Learning from Israel’s Disobedience:
Know who God Is, We are God’s images; when God created us, he formed us in his own image, and he gave us sovereignty over the world, the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all crawling creatures in the world, and He loves us the most among all the creatures He has created.
God loves us so much that he created us in his own image, therefore we must love Him back. If you love someone, you will never want to harm them and will do all in your power to make them happy.
That is what we should do for God, because he created us and utilises everything to fulfil us. Consider how God liberated the Israelites from Egypt’s clutches; God battled for them, and the Egyptians no longer tormented them.
Importantly, if know who God is and He is on your side, you have no reason to defy Him. God would never abandon people He loves, and He will always be with them in their tribulation.
He will always be there to assist people fight their struggle, but God also wants us to love Him back because if we take God’s love for granted, we shall suffer the consequences.
Taking God for granted has consequences; neglecting His guidance leads to spiritual emptiness and severed connection with the Lord.
Consider the case of Tyrus:
When Tyrus delivered the entire captivity to Edom without remembering the brotherly covenant, God sent three transgressions to Tyrus,
and the fourth is that he would not remove the punishment, and will send fire to Tyrus’ wall to destroy the palace, according to Ezekiel 26:1-4 (KJV).
Also look at the story Samuel:
Samuel, born to a mother who vowed to be with God, was called by God three times while sleeping. Despite believing it was his father, Samuel realized that God was calling him.
He was told to act against Eli and judge his house’s iniquity forever. God swore that Eli’s house’s iniquity would never be purged through offering or sacrifice.
When Samuel woke up, he told his father that he would do what he seemed to be right, as God had commanded. The Bible says in (1 Samuel 3 (KJV).
Take A look at the Eli:
Eli was a priest (kohen) of Shiloh, the second-to-last Israelite judge (succeeded only by Samuel before the rule of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
The sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, meanwhile, were behaving wickedly, for example, they take the best parts of the sacrifices for themselves and have affairs with the women who serve at the entrance of the sanctuary.
Eli was aware of their behavior but he rebuked them too lightly and ultimately did not stop them. The sons continued in their sinful behavior, and “a man of God” prophesied to Eli that Eli and his family would be punished for this,
with all male descendants dying before reaching old age and being placed in positions subservient to prophets from other lineages.
Some years later, the Philistines attacked Eben-Ezer, eventually capturing the Ark of the Covenant from the Israelites and killing Eli’s sons who had accompanied the Ark to battle.
In reaction to the news that the Ark of God had been captured, Eli fell backwards out of the chair and struck his head, whence he died. In 1 Samuel 4 (KJV).
The consequences of taking God for granted are constantly evident. God battled for Israel because He loves them, but when they disobey Him, everyone pays the price. As Joshua 5:6 states in the Bible
For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the Lord: unto whom the Lord sware that he would not shew them the land, which the Lord sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey (Joshua 5:6 KJV).
The Power of Obedience:
Obeying God is an imperative aspect of our existence, for He is the very Creator who fashioned us in His divine image. As beings molded in His likeness, it becomes our utmost responsibility to align our lives with His will, revering and respecting Him above all else.
We are called to steer clear of sin and refrain from indulging in the vices God has warned us against. Embracing this path is not merely a formality; it is the key to unlocking a life of true fulfillment and purpose and to know who God is.
Sacrifices made in vain cannot compare to the profound impact of genuine obedience to God’s commands.
Hence, let us walk steadfastly in His ways, guided by wisdom and understanding, for in honoring Him, we discover the ultimate fulfillment of our souls.
Reverence for God:
Fearing God is a pathway that leads to profound wisdom and understanding. When we recognize His greatness and stand in awe of His majesty, we gain insights that surpass human comprehension.
It is through this reverence that we learn to respect and honor His divine guidance, embracing His teachings as a beacon of truth in our lives.
By walking in the fear of the Lord, we navigate the journey of life with a heart attuned to His wisdom, experiencing the fulfillment that comes from aligning our steps with His righteous path. The Bible says in Proverbs 8:13
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate (Proverbs 8:13 (KJV).
The Bible also says in Job 28:28
And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding (Job 28:28 (KJV).
The Lord states in Proverbs 14:27
The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death (Proverbs 14:27 (KJV).
Know Who God Is And Living Like Him:
God created us in His image and desires a loving relationship with each of us. However, it is important to understand that while God loves us unconditionally, He hates sin and unrighteousness.
His perfect nature cannot tolerate wrongdoing, and He calls us to live according to His will and divine principles.To reciprocate God’s love, we are encouraged to love what God loves and flee from wrongdoing.
This involves embracing virtues such as compassion, forgiveness, humility, and kindness, which are dear to God’s heart. By following His commandments and leading a righteous life, we demonstrate our love and devotion to Him.
The Bible says in 1 John 3:1-2
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is (1 John 3:1-2 (KJV).
In essence, understanding God’s love and His stance on sin and righteousness should motivate us to align our lives with His will, fostering a loving and meaningful relationship with our Heavenly Father.
By living in harmony with His principles, we honor His love and express our gratitude for His unwavering affection towards us.
